Attendance Guidelines
Information concerning South Carolina Attendance Laws and the Marion County School District Guidelines for student attendance. The MCSD Board believes that attendance is a key factor in student achievement and any absence from school represents an educational loss to the student. However, the board also recognizes that some absences from school are unavoidable.

Parent Portal
In order to access student records in PowerSchool, parents must create an account on the Parent Portal page. Once the account is created, they can then use the access ID and password provided to them by their child's school to attach the child's records to the parent account.

Student Transfer Request
Student Transfer Request Form. This form must be filled out if a parent is requesting a transfer to another school within the district or requesting permission for their child to attend school in another school district. This form is then presented to the Board of Education for final approval.

Math Resources for Parents
The Education Oversite Committee and SC math teachers have developed web-based resources to help students in Kindergarten through 7th grade with math.
Grade level links provide resources - activities, book, websites, and apps - on specific concepts found in the SC College and Career Ready Standards in mathematics.

Family-Friendly Guides to SC Academic Standards
The Family-Friendly Guides to the SC Academic Standards are excellent tools for teachers and parents.
The website provides information for parents and families about what their children should be learning in school based on the standards.
These resources are ideal for families to receive during back-to-school events and parent-teacher conferences.
The family-friendly guides, which are a collaboration between the EOC and the SC Department of Education (SCDE), are available for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
The guides are also available in Spanish.

Attendance Works: Advancing Student Success by Reducing Chronic Absence
Attendance Works is a national and state initiative that promotes better policy and practice around school attendance.
They promote tracking chronic absence data for each student beginning in kindergarten, or ideally earlier, and partnering with families and community agencies to intervene when poor attendance is a problem for students or schools.
