Meet the Teacher YouTube Video (please watch)
I have been a teacher for 16 years and look forward to a great year with your children this school year. Please watch the YouTube video for more information.
SEL is suddenly in the spotlight this year. It is becoming a huge topic of discussion, especially in schools. Why do our students need SEL? Well, for many students growing up can be tough. They have to deal with parents working, being home alone, schools on unique teaching schedules, technology (cell phones, Tic-Toc, SnapChat, etc.), and bullying. For many of our students, they do not know how to cope with such issues at a young, impressionable age. According to research taken from a poll in 2018, 7 in 10 teens think anxiety and depression is common in their age group while 3 in 10 of these same teens feel that they have too much pressure on them to suceed and do well in school. Social-emotional Learning helps teachers, administrators, guidance councelors, and other school staff teach students how to cope and deal with stress, anxiety, and feelings of depression. SEL teaches them that it is okay to feel such emotions and how to talk with others about issues they are struggling with. Through SEL, we hope to help our student begin to realize that they are not alone in this world and that they can find someone to talk to who will listen and encourage them.
All students who come to school on Leap Week Days or for Wednesday classes wiht the teacher must be in their school uniform.
