Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Gennie Switzer

I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a master's degree from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. I grew up in Columbia, SC and attended public school and played sports. This summer I planted a garden, worked on my home and went to Edisto and Pawley's Island because I love to collect sea shells. I have two children who are in college Noah, who is studying to be an architect, and Hannah, who is studying psychology. In addition, I have three very funny kitty cats. My dream since I was a child was to be a teacher by the ocean.

My father build a playhouse for me when I was three. It had a chalkboard in it was 8FT. X 10FT. two windows, and a real roof! I spent many years playing and imatating my teachers but most of practicing what I needed to know at school. My neighbors came over and we worked on homework. I reworked math problems with one friend and helped another to read who were from Germany. I was 9 and tutoring. My aunt was a science teacher and my inspiration for becoming a teacher. She taught me how to shell collect and label. Now I share them with my students and they love them.

This year will be an exciting year for your child as we learn a lot of new skills together. I am looking forward to a great year you and your child. If you have a question, please email me at gswitzer@marion.k12.sc.us or call 843-464-3760. I will have DOJO in my room. It's a great way for you to communicate with me and keep track of your child's day.

I look forwrd to working with you and your child.

Best Wishes,

Ms. Switzer
