My name is Barry Hemimgway better knwon as BJ. I am a proud native of Mullins, SC, but I currently reside in Florence, SC. I graduated from Mullins High School in May of 2013. I am a very proud graduate of THEE Claflin University Orangeburg, SC where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and History as well as my Master's of Education Degree. I am a very active member of the St. Paul Baptist Church Mullins, SC where I serve in numerous capacities.  In the community I serve on the staff of the Larry Smith - Cooper Funeral Home

This is my 5th year teaching at my former middle school that I attended (Palmetto Middle School) where it has been an absolute joy and privilege to serve as an 8th Grade ELA Teacher. This year I will be teaching 6th and 8th Grade ELA.

I am a proud uncle to two niececs Harmoni and Journee, one nephew Jarrett, and a Goddaughter Jaylei.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, shopping, enjoying good cuisine, and spending time with my niece Harmoni. 

I firmly believe that education is the key that can open many doors. My job as an educator is not only to educate, but empower and motivate all students to reach and maximize their fullest potential. While we are navigating through very unusual times I still hold this quote to be very true by Henry Adams that " A teacher affects eternity; he will never know where his influence stops''
