Mrs. Jennifer Ferguson

Thank you for checking out ACT’s Culinary Arts department. Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Jennifer Ferguson. I have over 28 years of experience as a chef, restaurant manager, hotel manager and restaurant owner. I am honored to be a U.S. ARMY veteran. I have attended Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, SC, hold a Bachelors in Education from SUNY Oswego, NY as well as a Masters in Organizational Management/Human Resource Management from Ashford/Forbes. My teaching experience ranges from Food and Nutrition and Culinary Arts in Middle schools, High schools, and a Juvenile detention facility in my home state of New York. I have had the privilege of relocating to this wonderful area from Statesboro, GA to teach Intro to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts Management 1 and 2 as well as Baking and Pastry. Our students have the opportunity to get hands on relevant skills to enter into the hospitality field, including using industry recognized Prostart Curriculum with level certifications, Servsafe Management and Food Handler certifications, SP2 certifications as well as Student at Work elements both in house and with community partnerships. Our students spend a great deal of time and effort on the curriculum and certifications with practical applications in our commercial kitchen and large event space. In addition to the curriculum, our students have numerous opportunities in community event catering and serving that lends to honing their skills in networking, leadership, customer service skills and work ethic.  I am excited to be here with our students and aim to grow the program both with students and potential community partnerships for job placement as well as future event services to give our students even more practical experiences. I hope you will check back with us soon to see the exciting things we have been doing!
