The Academy for Careers and Technology is the program location for nine high school career pathways and one post-secondary career pathway as part of the Marion County School Distict. The school offers county high school students the chance to choose career path options in Auto Collision Repair Technology, Auto Technology, Computer Assisted Drafting and Design, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts Management, Entertainment Technology, Mechatroincs, Nail Technology, or Sports Medicine. Students will gain a competitive advantage over their peers by completing a series of industry recognized certifications in their chosen career path. Eight of the career pathways are 2-year programs and Nail Technology is a one-year program. High school students in Marion County may also opt to begin the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program during their senior year of high school. The Academy for Careers and Technology opened its doors to Marion County students in the fall of 1967. On October 29, 2017, the school celebrated 50 years of impacting student lives and investing in the community. A big thank you to all the past directors, faculty, staff and students who have been committed to excellence in teaching and service to the citizens of Marion County and South Carolina.
