JMS STUDENTS AWARDED AT SAND HILLS REGION IV SCIENCE FAIR

Marion, SC, August 5, 2016– The 2019 Sand Hills Region IV Science Fair was recently held at Francis Marion University.  Approximately 77 projects from seven area schools were entered. 

Nine eighth grade students from Mrs. Vickie Skipper’s class at Johnakin Middle School earned awards.  The following students earned gold medals for first place:

Alissa Crawford, Junior Division Behavioral/Social Science with a project titled “Music Score.”

Kendall Elliott, Junior Division Mathematics with a project titled “M & M Math – The Chaos Theory.”

Tyler Heyward, Junior Division Chemistry with a project titled “Electrolyte Nights.”

Emily Britt, Junior Division Microbiology for her project titled “Five Second Rule – Would You Take a Chance?”

Hannah Coleman, Junior Division Microbiology for her project titled “ Watch Your Mouth.”

Other students awarded include:

Jayla McGill, silver medal for second place finish in Junior Division Mathematics with a project titled “Chocolate Chips”

Madison Smith, silver medal for second place finish in Junior Division Mathematics with a project titled “Origami Angles.”

Nigeria Hannah, bronze medal for third place finish in Junior Division Earth & Space Science with a project titled “Cooling It.”

Bryan Barnhill, Honorable Mention in Junior Division Earth & Space Science with a project titled “Dams.”

  All students who entered projects received tee shirts and certificates provided by Francis Marion University and the American Chemical Society, the sponsors for the Sand Hills Region IV Science Fair.
