ACT Awards 367 Industry Certifications

Marion, SC, June 20, 2019– With the state of South Carolina and the federal government putting a new emphasis on industry certifications for high school students, Marion County School District’s Academy for Careers and Technology students stepped up to the plate and earned a total of 367 industry certifications during the 2018-2019 school year.

Below is a breakdown of the certifications and the program in which they were earned. The district is proud of the ACT faculty and staff for pushing students to achieve these certifications and build their resumes/portfolios for future employment.

 73 SP/2 certifications awarded to students in Auto Collision Repair, Auto Technology, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, and Nail Tech.  More information about this certification may be found at www.sp2.org

 13 OSHA-10hr General Industry certifications were awarded to students in Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, and Mechatronics

 230 I-Car Intro Series certifications were awarded to students in Automotive Collision Repair. More information about this certification may be found at https://www.i-car.com/

 8 ServSafe Foodhandler certifications were awarded to students in Culinary Arts. More information about this certification may be found at https://www.servsafe.com/

 8 ServSafe Manager Certifications were awarded to students in Culinary Arts

11 ProStart Level II certifications were awarded to students in Culinary Arts

 13 ASE certifications were awarded to students in Auto Collision Repair and Auto Technology. More information about this certification may be found at https://www.ase.com/Home.aspx

 1 SC Cosmetology License was awarded in Cosmetology

 2 SC Hair Braider License were awarded to students in Cosmetology

 For the 2019-2020 school year, the students at the ACT will continue to have more opportunities to build their certification portfolios as new certifications are introduced to the different programs across the school.
