JMS Clear Backpacks and Bags Policy

Continuing for the 2024-2025 school year.  ONLY CLEAR BACKPACKS AND BAGS WILL BE PERMITTED FOR STUDENTS IN ALL GRADES.

This proactive measure takes effect on the first day of the 2024-2025 school year- Wednesday, July 31, 2024.  As of that date, ONLY clear backpacks and bags (purses, fanny packs, lunch boxes, etc.) will be allowed on school campuses and on school field trips for students in grades 6^th – 8^th.

The purpose of this requirement is to add an additional layer of safety across our school and provide added safeguards for our students, staff, and faculty.  Mesh, transparent backpacks/bookbags are not allowed.  The book bag must be clear.

The only exceptions permitted are:

• A small non-transparent pouch for personal hygiene items
• Thermal food containers carried inside clear lunch boxes
• School-approved sport-specific carrying case for athletic equipment
• School-approved instrument-specific carrying case for band equipment

By enforcing this requirement, we aim to prevent potential security issues and foster a safer learning environment.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the school.
