I am committed to creating a classroom where high academic standards are expected of my students. I believe that every child should learn and succeed in school. I believe that together we, as teachers, parents, and students, are the key elements to a student's success. I look forward to working with my class this year.
In 1994, I graduated from Aynor High School, Aynor, SC. During my junior year in high school, I was assisting a teacher in her Special Education class. I was in "charge" of assisting one particular student. We worked hard together and the day that I saw the "light" in his eyes (when he achieved success with a skill we had been working on for days), I knew I wanted to see that again and again. From that day forward, teaching was my new dream and I continue to do so without ever looking back. I love working with children and allowing them to learn with me as their guide.
Many years later and I still enjoy teaching. I love to see a child begin to understand knowledge, learn new concepts, and then take their new knowledge and apply it to their life. After teaching for four years at a private school, I joined the Mustang family in 2001. I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grade. This year I will be teaching fifth grade math.
I live in Aynor with my husband, Phillip. We enjoy spending time with our families. We are active members at Langston Baptist Church in Conway, SC where I am the assistant with the K5 Sunday school class.
