Mrs. Iris Barr

I am currently in my 18th year of teaching. I have taught at Marion High School for my entire career. I am a proud Marion Swamp Fox! I graduated from Marion High in 1998. I attended the University of Florida where I earned a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Education and a master's degree in English Education. I also have a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Coastal Carolina University. I was the Marion School District 1 Teacher of the Year in 2011. I have also served as a teaching consultant for the Swamp Fox Writing Project at Francis Marion University. I currently serve as the English Department Chairperson. In 2016 I was selected as the SC Region 7AA Girls' Tennis Coach of the Year. I am married to Earl Barr, who also works for Marion County Schools. I have one son, a preschooler named Avery.
