Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Denise Owens
I was born in Georgetown, South Carolina and raised in Johnsonville, South Carolina. After high school, I attended Coastal Carolina University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. Upon completion of my Bachelor’s Degree, I began Walden University and obtained my Master of Science Degree in Technology. I have taught first through fifth grades at different times during my career.
In April, 2012, I married my husband, Alan. We have a 25 year old son, Tyler. We also have a 13 year old Chocolate Labrador, Tucker, a 4 year old Walker Gran-dog, Molly, an 8 month old Yorkie Gran-dog, Berkley, and three cats, Precious, Izzy, and Hunter. We enjoy spending time at our river house on Black River in Georgetown, watching South Carolina Gamecock football, boating, and traveling.
I am a strong advocate of hands-on learning, inquiry-based learning, and involve my students in a variety of problem-solving and technology infused activities that provide them with the opportunities to see their thoughts come to life. My professional interest focus on communicative approaches to language teaching, thematic planning, and cooperative learning.
