Mrs. Latonya Genwright-6th Grade Science
I am excited about starting a new school year and getting to know you. Here are a few tidbits about me... I grew up in Mullins, SC and graduated from Francis Marion University, Florence SC in 1997. While there, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. I served in the United States Army and also graduated form Airborne School in Fort Benning GA. I’ve been at Johnakin Middle School for several years, and I love being here! It’s been thrilling to see the changes over these past few years and look forward to the years to come. This 2022-2023 school year will be absolutely AMAZING and EXCITED for students as well as teachers because we will embrace it together.
My husband, Ronald, and I have a three children and one grand son. Destiny, Ronisha, and Ronald II have been raised in the Marion County School system and I am a proud graduate of Marion County as well. My grandson, Destin, is three years old and I take as much time of my life spoiling him and spending time with him and all his PAW PATROL characters. I enjoy spending time with my family, bowling, and becoming the best teacher that I can be.
Due to COVID-19, we are definitely taking precautions as we enter the school year. We look forward to spending quality time with our JMS Scholars face to face interacting in the science lab and performing experiments. We will be interacting with students and parents to make sure that we are delivering rigorous and high quality activities throughout the year. I look forward to spending this school year with you hope you have and EXCITING AND STIMULATING 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR! ALWAYS REMEMBER: WE ARE JOHNAKIN!

Teach Me How To Do Science,
Teach Me, Teach Me How To Do Science! (4 Times)
We Don't Just Experiment, We Implement!
HEY! ( 4 Times)
Students sing this song at the beginning of each class right after they complete bellwork to remind them that even though we are in science class doing fun experiments about the content, they will also implement this informaton in the real world outside of class.
