8th Grade Explores History at Charles Towne Landing
The 8th Grade visited Charles Towne Landing in Georgetown to learn about South Carolina history. The history depicted ranges from the times of indigenous peoples through Civil War times. Groups of students went on a historical scavenger hunt that took them to early agriculture sites, an excavation of the early' settlers Palisade wall, onto a colonial trade ship, past the lovely Legare Waring home, and into an animal park sheltering with bison, puma, an bears. The students marveled at the huge "Trees of Knowledge" walked the paths of our state's earliest settlers, and stopped to pay reverence at the slave cemetary. History becomes meaningful when it comes alive at Charles Towne Landing.
